Surveys // Participate in Huegin’s 2013 International Project Portfolio Management Survey
Organisations use Project Portfolio Management to manage portfolio of projects in much the same way as you would manage a portfolio of financial investments, such as shares, bonds, and property. By maintaining a balanced portfolio, the organisation can spread the risks of individual projects, produce an overall higher rate of return and at the same time deliver the project outcomes. But managing multiple projects to achieve these aims simultaneously can be complex and conflicting; with the added burden of the investment capital becoming harder to obtain and allocate in the current economic climate. We ask you to take our 2013 survey which seeks to understand how well your organisation's project portfolio management performs against these challenges Read more +
Perspectives // Project portfolio optimisation
Organisations from many different sectors of industry, including utilities, public transport and logistics, face similar challenges in allocation of resources. This perspective looks at the approach taken to determine the cost and value to achieve the highest possible value within a given cost limit, referred to as the "efficient frontier". Read more +
Perspectives // Understanding and improving program performance
Project and program management are highly evolved fields. There are many highly sophisticated resources explaining how to effectively run a project and how to manage a program of work. But while a lot of focus has been put on how project and program managers should act - that is, the processes they should follow and the decisions they should make - surprisingly little advice is available on how best to really understand how a large program is likely to evolve and perform. This perspective looks at the complexities involved and the implemented solution. Read more +

Perspectives // Portfolio performance management in a project driven organisation using Earned Value Management
This Perspective addresses the ever increasing use of projects as a means of delivering results in project portfolio driven organisations and how the performance of individual projects should be linked to the strategic aims of the portfolio. It is important for managers and executive teams to understand that there is often a disconnect between the strategic aims of the portfolio and the ongoing management a project's performance. Perspectives // Understanding Network Health (part II)
This Perspective is the second addressing the topic of providing a balanced approach to measuring the success of executive teams in managing electricity networks. This Perspective covers the regime that has been introduced into Ergon Energy for the measurement of Network Health. The final method of measurement allows a "roll-up" for Executives and the Board and a "drill-down" for those charged with improving the overall health of the network. Read more +
